Bomb Threat at Gadkari’s Home Turns Out to Be Hoax — Liquor Shop Worker Held

In a dramatic turn of events, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s Nagpur residence became the centre of a bomb scare on Saturday — only to later find out it was a hoax call made by a liquor shop employee.

But the scare was real while it lasted.

Security scrambled, bomb squad deployed

According to DCP Rishikesh Singh, the police control room received a chilling call: a bomb had supposedly been planted at Gadkari’s house. Authorities didn’t take any chances. Within minutes, the bomb squad, sniffer dogs, and security forces swung into action, cordoned off the area, and began an intensive search.

Thankfully, no explosives were found at the minister’s home. But the incident sparked a big question — who made the call, and why?

Caller tracked — arrested from a liquor shop

Police quickly traced the number to Umesh Raut, who works at a local liquor store in Nagpur. He was arrested soon after. Surprisingly, Raut has no previous criminal record, and police are still trying to figure out what drove him to make such a dangerous prank call.

Whether it was a dare, a drunken impulse, or something more sinister — the investigation is now underway.

Rising concerns over VIP security and fake threats

Incidents like this raise a bigger concern — how safe are our public leaders, and how easily can security forces be distracted by false alarms?

Misusing emergency services not only wastes valuable police resources but also risks delaying real responses when they’re actually needed.

Police have confirmed that strict legal action will be taken against Raut under relevant sections for threatening national security and misusing emergency channels.

What do you think — should fake threat callers face harsher punishment? Or are such incidents just a sign of deeper social frustration? Let’s hear your thoughts below.
